Coach Paul Tegat Davis gets his first win

We are back on top, Montego Bay United returned to the top of the point’s tables in the Red Stripe Premier League on Sunday after beating Humble Lion 3-1 in their third round game played at Wespow Park, our first win over the Clarendon team this season.

Ronaldo Rodney who has stepped up as a consistent scorer, Lesley St Fleur with his first for the season and the reliable Owayne Gordon all scored as new coach Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis won his first home game as the coach of Montego Bay United.

With our 12th win of the season, we improved to 45 points, two more than defending champions Arnett Gardens who play Monday and Portmore United who were beaten by Boys Town while Humble Lion are stuck in fourth place on 35 points just two more than new comers UWI.

Following up on our goalless draw away to Waterhouse last week MBU wasted little time and were up 2-0 before the Humble Lion players knew what was going on.

Rodney shot MBU into the lead in the 10th minute when he shot home form point blank range after St Fleur reacted well after Gordon was fouled, dribbling to the touch line and crossing the ball to the centre before the Humble Lion players could react.

St Fleur was at the other end of the exchange six minutes later when Gordon picked him out with a pass from the right side and he finished well to beat Alien Whittaker.

Humble Lion were handed a life line in the 71st minute when the MBU defence failed to clear a ball and Levaughn Williams fired it past Jacomeno Barrett.

Gordon put the game out of reach of the Clarendon team in the 83rd minute when his powerful shot from just inside the area, beat goalkeeper Alien Whittaker. The goalkeeper had done well to block a shot from Keniel Kirlew going to his left but Gordon reacted quickest and got to the rebound.
